Coming Attractions

Welcome to Coming Attractions, a look at what’s coming ahead in film.

The Social Network – Does the beginning of Facebook sound interesting? Not when you put it like that but all signs are pointing to a great film. The choir cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” gives a very haunting atmosphere in this trailer.

The Town – Ben Affleck proved with “Gone Baby Gone” that he’s one helluva director and even though this trailer seems spoilerific, the film looks like another strong outing. I really hope this trailer music in indicative of the final product cause it’s really good and Jon Hamm is in this.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps – If you’ve ever seen Wall Street or any of Oliver Stone’s films, you should be excited about this. Michael Douglas seems to have slipped right back into the role of Gordan Gecko, which would make sense seeing as he won Best Actor for the 1st film back in ’87. Plus, there’s something about the use of “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones that keeps me coming back to this trailer.

Due Date – Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis together in any movie would make me excited but the two of them in a road movie? Yes, I’m there opening day. So what if Zach seems to be playing a character very similar to Alan from The Hangover, we all know that’s not a bad thing. Plus, the opening joke absolutely sold the movie for me.

Of all of those, I think the only one that piques my interest right off the bat is Due Date, and only then because Robert Downey Jr. can do no wrong right now. Wall Street doesn’t seem like my kind of subject material, The Town has Ben Affleck (cont’d)

… (who I’ve never liked in anything but Daredevil which is just f’ed up of me), and The Social Network just turns me off. It seems like such an odd choice of subject matter.
